Danny Dyert has dropped a major hint that his character Mick Carter might actually be alive, after he appeared to meet a grisly end at the end of EastEnders on Sunday night.
EastEnders Christmas episodes are known for throwing up their fair share of drama and this year was no different as Mick was caught up in some festive chaos, thanks to new wife Janine's web of lies. Unbeknown to Mick, serial schemer Janine had framed his ex wife and childhood sweetheart Linda for 'drink driving' when the reality was very different.
Her shocking deceit was uncovered as family gathered around the table at the Queen Vic, with the villain's daughter Scarlett sealing her fate by exposing the truth. Realising that everyone was against her and the police were likely to be on her case, Janine swiftly fled Walford. as Mick and Linda gave chase.

The frantic pursuit ended on the White Cliffs of Dover and, after Janine plunged over the edge and into the sea, with Linda in the passenger seat, Mick dived in after them, rescuing pregnant Janine first, before going back in for Linda, only for her to emerge on land after managing to escape the sunken car herself. The gripping hour long episode ended with Linda screaming at the sea in despair as credits rolled and now Danny, star of films like The Business and Football Factory, has broken his silence on his much publicised exit from EastEnders.
In polar opposite conditions from the ones faced by Mick, Danny took to Instagram from a sun lounger abroad and said: "Don't worry, I know it was emotional last night. It was a very nutty episode, but don't be concerned because I f*****g made it. I mean it was a c*** of a swim, but let me tell you it was worth it. Mick needed a rest and a new chapter."
He added: "I wanted to take this opportunity to thank all my castmates. I love you all, every single one of you and I'm very honoured to have worked with you for as long as I have and I'll relish those moments for the rest of my life."
But it was the fact that Danny said Mick 'needed a rest' that fans seized on, after they suggested he could make a return years later, in similar style to Harold Bishop's mid 90s comeback on Neighbours after he fell into the sea.
