EastEnders boss Chris Clenshaw has reacted to speculation that the new family in Walford, the Knights, will be linked to a huge Christmas twist coming up.
In February, viewers were shown a flashforward clip for Christmas Day which saw six female characters gathered around the body of a mystery man.
A male character is to be killed off in December, with Suki Panesar, Linda Carter, Sharon Watts, Stacey Slater, Denise Fox and Kathy Beale at the scene of the crime.
It's been tipped that one of the women could be the killer of the mystery male, while some fans think there could be another character not yet identified who does the crime.
As for the victim, viewers are already speculating a new male character linked to Linda could be the person that dies.
George Knight heads to Albert Square to join his partner Elaine Peacock, who has just become the new owner of The Queen Vic - the location of the Christmas death.
Linda has gone into business with her mother, but what Elaine hasn't told her is that her new family will be joining them.
Next week, George and his daughters Anna and Gina, as well as their dog Tyson, make their BBC soap debut as they move into their new home.
But with speculation already rife that George will be killed off this Christmas or the family could be linked to the event, soap boss Chris remained coy as he addressed the theories.
In the flashforward clip there was a figure of a knight in the pub, and we now know this is linked to the family - but does it mean they have something to do with the big death?
Speaking to The Mirror and other press, Chris said: "Now the knight in shining armour makes sense to everyone. When we shot that scene, the Knights weren’t in the scripts so everyone was speculating."
Linda actress Kellie Bright added: "Well I walked onto set and there was this bloody knight, and I went, 'what's that?' They were like it's something to do with the new family, and I was like well what's it doing here?"
Chris then refused to go into anymore detail and said: "That's all I am gonna give you...." hinting that the Knights could well play a part after all.
The figure will be staying in The Vic it seems, with Chris confessing it's been with George in every bar or pub he has ever run.
Chris also spilled on their arrival, saying: "I think that it is very clear they've got a couple of bags, but actually, they come with a lot of baggage.
"They’re at the heart of the Square so they have a lot of interactions with most of the community The community have just lost Lola and so the family are thrust into their world going through that process.
"George very quickly, because he's a former boxer from the East End, strikes up a good friendship with Phil who already knows him. It's very interesting territory, people will be wondering if George and Phil are going to be enemies, and whether they're going to fit in with the rest of the community."
EastEnders airs Mondays to Thursdays at 7:30pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer, while the Knights will arrive on June 1.
