Eamonn Holmes shared his hopes for a “kinder” 2025 following a turbulent past year that saw him split from wife Ruth Langsford and plagued with health woes.

The GB News presenter, 65, initially took to social media platform X, formerly Twitter, to share a Christmas viewing recommendation with 1.1m followers, writing: “Now here’s a really good one. Just finished watching Danny DeVito & Matthew Broderick in Deck The Halls on ⁦@ITVX⁩. I’m at last full of Christmas Cheer!!! A new favourite for my list.”

In response, a fan penned: “Great film. Hope 2025 will be kind to you!” Holmes replied to the comment, and signalled his agreement to the sentiment by posting three praying hands emojis.

“Glad to see you are perking up. Concerned for you. Best for New Year,” another remarked, to which the broadcasting veteran confirmed he would be back on screens from January 6.

Holmes and Langsford confirmed in May that they were set to divorce after 14 years of marriage and 27 years together.

Issuing a joint statement, a spokesperson for the former couple - who share one grown-up son - said: "Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes have confirmed their marriage is over and they are in the process of divorcing."

Holmes and Langsford worked together for years on ITV's This Morning show and were well known for their affectionate bickering, which often happened right in front of the cameras.

He has since found love again with relationship counsellor Katie Alexander, 43. with whom he recently enjoyed a romantic getaway in Paris.

While his love life may be looking up, the Northern Irish star continues to suffer on the health front.

Holmes suffers with chronic back pain and underwent surgery last year to help alleviate some of the symptoms.

He has frequently been pictured this year either in a wheelchair or reliant on walking aids and turned to various therapies to aid his rehabilitation.
