Eamonn Holmes addresses GB News absence as he confirms TV return

Eamonn Holmes has addressed concerns over his recent absence from GB News Breakfast.

The 64-year-old presenter typically co-hosts the program alongside Isabel Webster from Monday to Wednesday, but was notably missing on Monday, with Nana Akua stepping in.

The presenter shake-up sparked speculation among viewers, prompting Holmes to clarify the situation on X (formerly Twitter).

He humorously reassured his 1.1 million followers that his absence was due to something as simple as a summer holiday, writing, “People seem unfamiliar with the concept of Summer Holidays.”

He dismissed any concern and added: “See you next week!”

Fans quickly showed their support, wishing Holmes well during his break. Regular GB News contributor Dawn Neesom replied to his update, playfully rolling her eyes and quipping, "Have a lovely time," alongside a sunglasses emoji.

Another fan joked: “What, you're allowed a holiday? Noticed Isabel was missing a while back too—how is that allowed?”

While a second commented: “Strange when Isabel had her holidays, they weren't worried. Enjoy your holiday!”

Holmes’ update comes after he gave fans an insight into his efforts to get mobile again, after being forced to use walking aids amid his ongoing health battle.

The former This Morning host took to Instagram to upload a video of him using an Alter G anti-gravity treadmill.

“Trying to remember what it felt like to have legs that worked,” he wrote in the accompanying caption followed by a thumbs up emoji.

According to the official Alter G treadmill website, it inflates from the waist down giving you a weightless feeling as you walk or run with as little as 20 percent of your bodyweight, making it a lot more comfortable to exercise.

Holmes and Ruth Langsford announced their divorce in May (PA Wire)

In 2016, Holmes underwent a double-hip replacement operation lasting three-and-a-quarter hours after living with acute pain for many years. The TV presenter then had back surgery last year to help relieve the symptoms but has been left using a wheelchair after the operation went “wrong”.

Not only has Holmes been grappling with his health but he has been nursing a broken heart following his split from wife Ruth Langsford.

The couple confirmed in May that they are in the process of divorcing after 14 years of marriage, having first started dating in 1996.

A statement issued by a spokesperson at the time said: “Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes have confirmed their marriage is over and they are in the process of divorcing.”

After news of their split was made public, Langsford announced that she would be taking extended leave from ITV panel show Loose Women before making an emotional return in June.
