The Eagles are locked in and preparing for the Cowboys, but that didn’t stop star wide receiver DeVonta Smith from giving back to the local community.
Ahead of the Christmas weekend, Smith teamed up with DICK’S Sporting Goods to host a surprise shopping event for local kids in Philadelphia and New Jersey.
Smith is the sole brand partner for DICK’s Sporting Goods Men’s lifestyle clothing line, VRST since 2021.
On Monday night, Smith joined the kids in choosing their outfits, playing catch, and signing autographs before gifting each kid with a $250 gift card compliments of DICK’s Sporting Goods.
Smith surprised and join the kids on a shopping spree to pick out a coat of their choice to stay warm this winter.

Smith has now hosted coat giveaways, a football camp, and a celebrity softball game since being drafted in the first round by Philadelphia.
“Giving back to the community is important to me, especially in this area where everyone has welcomed me with open arms. Around holiday time, it’s freezing out here, so it made sense to continue to use my partnership with VRST and DICK’s Sporting Goods for the second year to make a difference to kids here in the area and get them some winter coats. It was a great experience to bring kids from the local Boys and Girls Club into the store, play catch with them, and give them a shopping spree.”

“When I think of Philadelphia, I’m planning to — I want to be here for my whole career,” Smith said via The Inquirer. “So doing stuff in the community with the kids around here is going to be a regular thing for me.

“This whole experience is fun. Getting to interact with some of them, some of them say funny things to me like, ‘You can’t score a touchdown on me.’ At one point, I was a kid just like them. So these moments are something you want them to remember forever. No matter what, you always hold this with high [regard] because as a professional athlete, you want to be an inspiration to the kids you meet.”
