The Eagles are a little over two weeks away from their season opener at Detroit, and it’s never too early to look ahead to 2023.
Draft Wire unveiled their latest two-round mock projection for next April, and Philadelphia restocks on both sides of the football with three of the SEC’s most dynamic playmakers.
With their two first-round picks, Howie Roseman addresses two urgent needs, adding a cornerback with star power, and a safety with an athletic pedigree that could make him an All-Pro.
In the second round, the Birds add to an already talented running back room, adding a dual threat from Ole Miss.
13. Philadelphia Eagles (from NO) | Alabama CB Eli Ricks
At 6-foot-2 and 190 pounds, Ricks has an incredible length with long arms, which allows him to excel in press-man coverage, and he can turn and run with most receivers.
James Bradberry was a huge addition this offseason, but Darius Slay will turn 32 in January, which means the Eagles could still be targeting a young understudy who could become a No. 1 corner. A transfer from LSU, Ricks could be the latest Alabama defensive back to come off the board in the first round.
19. Philadelphia Eagles | Alabama S Malachi Moore
A preseason All-SEC selection, Moore would start for the Eagles today if he was on the roster.
Moore was hurt for the majority of 2021, but as a freshman in 2020, he finished with 44 tackles, four tackles for loss, six pass breakups, and a team-high three interceptions. The 6-foot, 190-pounder forced four turnovers in 2020 and garnered SEC All-Freshman Team honors, second-team All-SEC honors, and Freshman All-American honors.
After adding an athletic playmaker at corner earlier in the first round, the Eagles double-dip in the secondary here. Moore is a versatile ballhawk who would bring much-needed big-play ability to the back end of Philly’s defensive backfield.
51. Philadelphia Eagles | Mississippi RB Zach Evans
The former TCU running back could be the gem of the SEC in 2022 after transferring to Ole Miss.
A 2022 Preseason All-American and All-SEC candidate, Evans saw action in 15 career games for the Horned Frogs, with eight starts at running back, while averaging 7.3 yards per carry on nearly 150 rushing attempts.
Evans gained 1,269 yards with ten touchdowns on 164 touches with TCU.
