Eagles head of security Dom DiSandro will not be allowed on the sideline for the team’s NFC East clash against the Cowboys on Sunday night following his run-in with 49ers linebacker Dre Greenlaw in Week 13, the league said Saturday.
NFL commissioner Roger Goodell made the decision to ban DiSandro from the sideline of Sunday’s contest during a Friday morning meeting with Eagles officials at the league office. Although DiSandro won’t have sideline access, the team released a statement confirming that he will be allowed to execute his usual routine of traveling with the team and handling game-day duties, including access to the Eagles’ locker room.
“This is an ongoing conversation with the NFL, and we are going to respect the restriction that is currently in place,” the Eagles said in a statement. “Although Dom [DiSandro] will not be on the sideline this Sunday, he will continue to fulfill his role with the team in all other capacities.”
The NFL hasn’t suspended DiSandro for the incident with Greenlaw. However, league personnel still is reviewing the situation to determine if DiSandro will face further discipline.
During the third quarter of the Eagles’ 42–19 loss to the 49ers, Greenlaw made contact with DiSandro near the team’s bench area. Greenlaw appeared to throw a punch at DiSandro.
Both men were ejected from the contest. However, Greenlaw and DiSandro have since apologized to each other.
Currently, the Eagles (10–2) boast the NFC’s best record with a chance to clinch a playoff berth against the Cowboys (9–3) at AT&T Stadium on Sunday night. Kickoff is scheduled for 8:20 p.m. on NBC.
