West Coast forward Tyler Brockman has been fined $1400 by the Geraldton Magistrates Court after pleading guilty to a series of traffic offences.

Brockman hit the headlines for all the wrong reasons when he fled the scene of a car crash in early May while in Geraldton to attend a family funeral.

The former Hawk was alleged to have crashed into a light post before fleeing on foot in the early hours of the morning on May 4, returning later to retrieve the vehicle.

Brockman pleaded guilty to careless driving, failing to report an accident to police, and failing to stop after an accident with property damage.

The 21-year-old wasn't in court to enter the guilty pleas in person on Friday given he was due to fly out with West Coast's squad ahead of Sunday's clash with Melbourne at the MCG.

West Coast stood Brockman down in the wake of the crash, and enrolled him in a wellbeing and education program within the club to help him deal with complex issues.

Brockman was handed an AFL recall a fortnight ago, and has managed to keep his spot in the side.

"The wellbeing and education programs facilitated by the club will be ongoing with Tyler and pleasingly he has already made progress to meet the required standards for an AFL player," West Coast said in a statement.

"As previously stated, Brockman's situation is complex and the club will continue supporting and working with him around his personal development."

Brockman played 26 games for the Hawks before crossing to West Coast at the end of last year.

He has played eight games for the Eagles, but is yet to kick a goal for his new club.
