In an interview with FRANCE 24 on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, Trump's Africa envoy Massad Boulos said that each side in Sudan feels it "could get a decisive military victory". Asked about Western Sahara, he acknowledged there is no "imminent solution that we can feel or touch". He also rejected Rwanda's accusations of bias over US sanctions, saying they "can easily be reversed".
The Washington Accords between Rwanda and DR Congo, brokered by the US last December in a bid to stop the fighting with M23 rebels in the east of the country, do not appear to be working on the ground. Boulos insists they were "just a launch pad", adding: "The process is long. It's going to take time."

Asked about Rwanda's withdrawal from DR Congo, he said: "We have some good indications now, so we have to give them a chance."
