EA Sports forgot to announce Paris Saint-Germain defender Marquinhos was part of the FIFA 23 Road to the World Cup promo when revealing the squad on social media.
The Road to the World Cup (RTTWC) squad was officially released into FIFA 23 by EA Sports on Friday, November 25 at 2pm GMT. The new World Cup-themed promo celebrates the best-performing players from the World Cup qualifiers, with the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Luka Modric and Heung-Min Son included in the squad.
But, when revealing the squad, EA forgot to include Brazilian defender Marquinhos in the announcements on social media, despite being the third highest-rated player in the promo. EA revealed the RTTWC promo squad on all its social media channels, but the graphic unveiling the full squad only featured 10 players rather than 11.
When you enter FIFA 23 Ultimate Team, Marquinhos is one of the highest-rated players in the squad and features on the FUT 23 loading screen as well as one of three players on the home screen slides promoting the promo. Many people called out EA for the mistake on social media, with many also surprised at the 2pm GMT release time, with most promos released at 6pm GMT.
EA also made some other interesting decisions with the Road to the World Cup squad, with Luis Suarez being included, despite the striker not currently at a club. Because of this, Suarez has his nation and club listed as Uruguay. Ben White was also included in the squad, despite the Arsenal defender not taking part in any of England's World Cup qualifiers.
Here is the full FIFA 23 Road to the World Cup squad, with Marquinhos included.
