DWP update as benefit payment dates to move again for many

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has issued an update to many benefit claimants who are set to see their payment dates move.

Money from the DWP is usually paid straight into bank, building society or credit union accounts, on a regular basis.

Universal Credit is paid once a month, while Tax Credits, State Pension, PIP, Pension Credit, Disability Allowance, Carer's Allowance, Attendance Allowance and Child Benefit are usually paid every four weeks.

Employment and Support Allowance, Income Support, and Job Seeker's Allowance are usually paid fortnightly.

If your payment date is on a weekend or a bank holiday your payment date will move. On Wednesday, a tweet from the DWP's official account alerted many benefit claimants of when their next payment will arrive.

The government department said: "Information for claimants already receiving payments: If you are due to be paid on 7 Apr or 10 Apr, you will be paid on 6 Apr Please contact us straight away if there is a problem with your payment."

This is because Friday (April 7) and Monday (April 10) are bank holidays as part of the long Easter weekend.
