Thousands of pensioners could be owed back payments worth £10,000 due to mistakes made by the Department of Work and Pensions ( DWP )
The DWP has admitted some women have not been paid extra state pension payments that they were entitled to.
The National Audit Office ( NAO ) blamed the error “outdated IT systems” and complex rules which required pension increase claims to be made manually rather than automatically.
