DWP and Martin Lewis warn 850,000 households missing out on up to £3,300 a year

It is believed that around 850,000 households could be missing out on vital Pension Credit support. While over 1.4 million pensioners are receiving Pension Credit, a large amount of them are not claiming this extra financial help which can also help access other benefits.

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) estimates that £1.7 billion in the benefit is being left unclaimed. It is holding its second annual Pension Credit “day of action”, as part of which it is holding an awareness-raising drive, reports WalesOnline.

Leaflets for local communities will be provided by the DWP, while businesses can also spread the word to their customers. Meanwhile state pension recipients will continue to receive reminders about Pension Credit in the post..
