Drivers are being urged to avoid contacting the DVLA's customer services today as workers across the UK take part in industrial action.
Walkouts on Wednesday will see some Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency staff (DVSA) who are members of the Public and Commercial Services (PCS) and Prospect unions stop all work.
The DVLA has said that strikes will specifically impact their contact centre. While the DVSA deals with driving standards, including testing, strikes will also impact DVLA resources which focus on issues with licencing.
A statement published by the DVLA website says: "Civil Service industrial action on Wednesday 15 March is likely to result in delays in getting through to our contact centre.
"Please avoid trying to contact us on Wednesday if possible. Our online services will be available and working normally."
Through March, 11 days of strikes are being organised by unions across the civil service after 100,000 PCS members in 214 government bodies voted for action. According to Gov.uk, today's industrial action will impact all areas of Great Britain.
Members are walking out on Wednesday over disputers concerning a 10 per cent pay rise, pensions, justice, job security and redundancy terms.
DVLA's official website can help drivers with a host of motoring issues. These include complaints, licence replacement, renewal and vehicle tax.
Drivers who have tests booked this month have also been warned of potential delays, but those affected will be contacted and dates will be rescheduled.
The DVSA explained on Twitter: "If you’ve got an appointment on a strike day, please attend as planned, unless you have been contacted directly to say it has been cancelled."
