A European central bank has moved 86 tonnes of gold from North America to London, and its explanation is drawing attention as the Dutch central bank argues that gold held in New York and Ottawa cannot be utilised as quickly and directly in a severe crisis.
De Nederlandsche Bank, known as DNB, carried out the relocation between March and August 2026, citing increasing geopolitical unrest and the need to strengthen its crisis preparedness.
