A first All-Ireland title for Dunloy or a ninth for Ballyhale? This season’s All-Ireland Club Senior Hurling Championship will either be won by a team who have lost four finals or the most successful team in the competition’s history.
Dunloy have landed four Antrim titles in consecutive years, five in the last six seasons and toppled Ulster rivals Slaughtneil in the provincial decider in December.
They then shocked the five-in-a-row Galway champions St Thomas’ in the All-Ireland semi-final thanks largely to a second half wonder goal from Keelan Molloy.
Ballyhale, stung from their last-gasp loss to Ballygunner in last season’s final, gained revenge on the Waterford outfit in their semi-final meeting last month.
The Kilkenny side are strong favourites to regain the Tommy Moore Cup, but Dunloy have designs on another big upset.
