Dune: Part Two co-writer Jon Spaihts recently shed light on the creative decision behind altering the character of Alia for the movie adaptation. Collaborating once again with director Denis Villeneuve, Spaihts co-wrote the script for the second installment of their Dune adaptation, which continues to follow the journey of Paul Atreides and his mother Lady Jessica alongside the Fremen as they confront House Harkonnen.
One significant departure from Frank Herbert's original 1965 sci-fi novel is the treatment of Alia Atreides, Paul's younger sister. In the film, Alia only briefly appears in Paul's visions, portrayed by Anya Taylor-Joy.
