Dundee are preparing to test Hamilton Accies' resolve with a move for midfielder Lewis Smith.
Reports have emerged that the Scotland under-21 star is high on Dee boss Gary Bowyer's wanted list.
It would, however, be an expensive bid for Dundee, with Lewis contracted until the end of next season, and he has been in boss John Rankin's plans so far this term.
Smith, 22, was a fan of the club before breaking through to their first-team.
However, injuries have limited his playing time in recent seasons.
