Police in Dundee have launched a probe following a nasty assault on a city centre bus.
Officers are checking CCTV and have issued descriptions of the victim and attacker as part of their investigation.
The assault took place on an Xplore Dundee number 1 bus in Albert Square at about 12:20pm on Monday 6th June.
A person on the bus was approached and allegedly assaulted by another passenger.
This was seen by a number of other passengers and the driver.
The victim left the bus and ran off along Panmure Street, while the suspect headed towards Bell Street.
At this time officers have not yet traced the victim, and would like to do so to make further enquiries and establish if he is injured.
A spokesperson for the force issued descriptions of both men.
They said: “The victim is described as a white male in his late 20s or early 30s, wearing a bright blue rain jacket and white baseball cap.
“The suspect is described as a white male, aged around 40 with short grey hair, wearing a charcoal grey top, black tracksuit bottoms, and was in possession of a white bag with coloured dots, and also a black golf bag.
“At the time he was in the company of a woman described as in her 30s with bobbed brown hair.”
The spokesperson said a number of lines of enquiry including CCTV checks have already been undertaken.
Officers would particularly like to hear from any other passengers on the bus at the time of the incident.
