A Dumfriesshire charity received £1,000 as part of the Benefact Group’s annual 12 days of giving Christmas campaign.
Mossburn Community Farm near Hightae will use the donation to help with monthly feed and vet bills for the animals it cares for.
The facility was one of 120 UK charities to benefit after being nominated by supporters.
Siobhan Webster, yard manager at the farm, said: “We were thrilled to win an award. We often ask our supporters to vote or nominate us for online competitions or campaigns and it is great for everyone when their contribution pays off.
“We are so grateful for all donations and grants at the moment as winter is always a struggle to raise the necessary funds to care for the animals and this has been exacerbated due to the cost of living crisis.
“The costs of everything are higher than ever including animal feed, hay and haylage, bedding, vet bills, utility bills, etc. The £1,000 award will be put towards the monthly feed and vet bills for the animals here.”
The farm was established more than two decades ago to provide help for misused, unwanted and neglected horses and ponies. This original remit was later widened to a range of farm and domestic animals.
The Mossburn team is dedicated to ensuring that the care and wellbeing of all animals is of the highest standard at all times.
Other winners included Stranraer Drama Club and the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation in Edinburgh.
Mark Hews, chief executive of Benefact Group, said: “Charitable giving is at the heart of our business.
“We are delighted to be giving back to deserving charitable causes once more with our annual 12 days of giving Christmas campaign, part of our Movement for Good Awards.
“In these challenging times, we know that £1,000 can make a real difference and we’re looking forward to seeing how this festive financial boost will changes lives for the better and bring a positive start to 2023.
“Out of some five million companies in the UK, we are the fourth largest corporate donor and have the ambition to be the largest.
“As a company, our purpose is to contribute to the greater good of society and, together, we can help many good causes to continue their support for those who need it most.”
