Dumfries was hit by flooding as weekend storms battered the region.
Police issued a Facebook warning for motorists to move their cars from the Whitesands and Dock Park on Sunday.
The River Nith overflowed into the area and shops closed early with owners piling sand bags at the front doors in fear of more damage.
However, the water receded before reaching the premises.
The road was closed off just before noon at the Whitesands but reopened later at night.
The police social media message for drivers said: “We are urging car owners who have left their vehicles in the car park opposite Knox Sports to move their vehicles immediately as this car park is due to flood imminently.”
The Nith also forced a road near Kirkton to close when it was engulfed with floodwater.
The storm, named Eunice, was followed on Sunday night by Storm Franklin which produced gusts of wind recorded in some areas at up to 80mph. And yesterday ScottishPower was dealing with a number of power black outs. A spokeswoman said: “We’re currently dealing with 25 faults on the network across Dumfries and Galloway, which are affecting around 1,600 customers.
“Our engineers are working to restore supplies as quickly as possible.”
At Kirkton near Dumfries the main road through the village was closed by floodwater.
