David Bogie just missed out on victory in the Jim Clark Reivers Rally.
The Dumfries driver was runner-up in the Duns-based event on Sunday with co-driver John Rowan in their Mini WRC.
The pair were 13 seconds down on winner Euan Thorburn, but as the first of the Scottish Rally Championship runners they landed maximum points in their bid for another title.
Dumfries’ Mark McCulloch was sixth in his Satria Evo, while it was a difficult day for double Scottish champ Jock Armstrong from Castle Douglas who finished down in 11th with Cammy Fair navigating in his Subaru Impreza.
Angus Lawrie from Castle Douglas and Paul Gribben from Annan were two places behind in their Mitsubishi Evo 9, giving them the Albyn Garage Challengers class victory on the Evo’s first outing on tarmac.
Ian Paterson from Dumfries was 27th in an Impreza with Stuart and Alice Paterson 39th in their Subaru.
Dalbeattie pair Brian and Scott Gourlay took second in class two in their Peugeot 205 GTi.
Peter Stewart from Dumfries won class five in his Peugeot 208. Co-driver Owen Paterson of Dumfries was second in the Honda Civic of Stephen Hunter and Richard Stewart and Mark Roberts from Dumfries were third.
Penpont’s Greg McKnight and Dumfries’ Harry Marchbank won class seven in their Ford Escort Mk2 and took the two-wheel drive honours. Keith and Mairi Riddick from Haugh of Urr were third in class three with Dumfries’ Willie Nelson seventh in his Escort. Creetown’s Jim McDowall sixth in class sixth in another Escort.
Rory Young from Kirkgunzeon had made a flying start to the day as he matched the first stage time of eventual winner Thorburn in his Ford Fiesta R2. However, he and co-driver Allan Cathers had to retire on the fifth stage.
The next round of the championship is the Argyll Rally on June 24 and 25.
