Dublin triumphs over Milan and Boston in world's greatest city rankings

Dublin has topped international entries such as Milan, Boston and Las Vegas in a newly released survey on the world's greatest cities.

The capital came 19th in the listings of over a hundred cities, released by worldbestcities.com. The list assessed factors such as culture, a city's key institutions and its corporate head offices to give an overall score. Dublin's thriving tech industry was commended alongside its appeal to a younger workforce.

The article also namedropped Trinity College, UCD and DCU as three internationally recognised universities. Our vibrant nightlife also helps attract young professionals from abroad hoping to carve out a career on Irish soil.

The descriptions reads: "The city continues to attract smaller start-ups that choose it over traditional head office cities like London and New York. It helps to be able to offer eager young employees something to do outside of work, which Dublin’s famous—though increasingly costly—pub-centric nightlife (ranked #15 globally) handily takes care of."

Dublin's docklands was highlighted as a particularly attractive place as the home of many large tech players, including Google, Facebook and Amazon. The city ultimately ranked #16 in GDP per Capita, while simultaneously achieving #27 for Income Equality.

Kyiv received an honorary mention on the list due to the fierce opposition shown by its residents in the ongoing Ukrainian war. Dublin managed to beat out surprising entries including glamorous Milan and historic Boston, achieving 22nd and 36th place respectively.
