Dublin firefighters tackle furniture blaze on green area as they give stark Halloween warning

It was a busy weekend for the brave crew of the Dublin Fire Brigade, as they rushed to the scene of furniture on fire Dublin.

Taking to social media, Dublin Fire Brigade confirmed that firefighters extinguished furniture set alight on a green area in Dun Laoghaire yesterday. Several pieces of furniture were alight, but fortunately firefighters were able to bring the blaze under control.

Dublin Fire Brigade issued an important warning to members of the public about bonfires as the Halloween season gets underway, sharing the smoky aftermath of the furniture fire. They tweeted: "At this time of year we see bonfire material being collected often using trolleys, cages and even pallet trucks!"

"This is costly to the businesses who own them, so keep them out of sight." The brigade also warned that its firefighters were already encountering rubbish that had been put aside for Halloween on October 31.

It said in a tweet: "This is the time of year that Halloween bonfire material (Yes, the 'H' word!) will start to be gathered by groups and stashed until October. Please dispose of waste responsibly."

Last year, Dublin Fire Brigade reported 186 fire calls from midnight on October 31 to midnight on November 1, with 133 of them Halloween related. This compared to 415 fire calls for Halloween in 2020, of which 323 were Halloween related.
