Dublin firefighters tackle blaze in yard as they give stark warning for Halloween

It was a busy weekend for the brave crew of the Dublin Fire Brigade, as they rushed to the scene of yard fire in Dublin.

Taking to social media, Dublin Fire Brigade said that four fire engines were called to tackle a dangerous blaze in a yard off Alexandra Road. A large amount of building supplies were alight, but fortunately firefighters were able to bring the blaze under control.

Dublin Fire Brigade issued an important warning to those who manage a premises to make sure that their materials are secure ahead of the spooky season. They tweeted: " If you manage a premises we recommend securing all materials in the run up to #Halloween."

Also over the weekend, firefighters rushed to the scene of a duplex's electricity supply box on fire in the city centre earlier this weekend. They tweeted: "Obviously never tackle electricity fires with water. In situations like this we will work with @ESBNetworks crews to isolate the supply following the fire."

The brigade warned that its firefighters were already encountering rubbish that had been put aside for Halloween on October 31. It said in a tweet: "This is the time of year that Halloween bonfire material (Yes, the 'H' word!) will start to be gathered by groups and stashed until October. Please dispose of waste responsibly."
