A firefighter who had recently finished training with Dublin Fire Brigade had to leap into action over the weekend - after a family pet had gotten into difficulty.
DFB were called to the upsetting scene at the River Dodder which had seen a dog called Lemon enter the water and struggle to get out.
Thankfully, new recruit to the force Seán was quick to act.
He leapt into the water with the gear he needed, rescuing Lemon from any further trouble by bringing him back to dry land safely.
A DFB spokesperson took to social media to explain: "Recruit Firefighter Sean had his first water rescue this weekend after receiving a call for help on the River Dodder.
"Lemon the dog had gotten stuck in a ruff patch and needed assistance to get back to dry land. Both are now friends fur-ever."
At the beginning of June, 44 recruit firefighters participated in the passing-out parade at the Dublin Fire Brigade training centre.
Following the parade the recruits became probationary-firefighters, and 33 new recruits were welcomed into the training centre to begin their path towards becoming a firefighter.
DFB employs approximately 1,000 personnel working in six districts with 12 full-time stations, two retained (part-time) stations.
They have more than 115 vehicles across their fleet.
