For Dubliners looking to get rid of their unwanted, old cars, vans and other vehicles, Dublin Fire Brigade is looking to take them on so that firefighters can train for car crash exercises.
Taking to social media, Dublin Fire Brigade tweeted: "Need to get rid of an old car? You can donate an end of life car to us for Road Traffic Collision training for new recruits and up-skilling of Firefighters.
"We'll arrange collection for free in the Dublin area and issue the appropriate certificate," they added. According to Dublin Fire Brigade, they are not just looking for old cars, and will consider all types of vehicles like vans, HGVs and buses for donation.

Those living in the greater Dublin area who wish to donate their old vehicles to Dublin Fire Brigade will also be issued an end of life certificate. They confirmed: "We will arrange for a contractor to collect your vehicle in the greater Dublin area and to issue an end-of-life certificate. You must have the vehicle's Vehicle Licence Certificate (VLC) or logbook."
According to Dublin Fire Brigade, 50 vehicles a year are donated to their training centre. However, it takes up to 25 cars to train ten recruit firefighters on two week Road Traffic Collision Operators course.
If you would like to donate your vehicle, telephone 01 222 4199, email dfbtrainingcentre@dublincity.ie or use the online self service portal and they will arrange a collection.
