Dublin city bins sealed as Joe Biden arrives in Irish capital

Bins in Dublin City Centre have been covered and sealed following the arrival of President Joe Biden.

Dublin City Council has informed that bins are set to stay covered until Friday, and have urged members of the public to dispose of their rubbish outside the designated security zones.

The 46th US President arrived in Dublin via the airport at 3pm this Wednesday afternoon, and has travelled to Louth for the evening before returning to the capital for the night later on.

A spokesperson for Dublin City Council said: "Dublin City Council would like to advise the public that following a request from An Garda Síochána due to the visit of US President Biden, it has covered and sealed bins in the city centre and along the President’s designated travel route."

The bins are likely to remain sealed and covered until Friday, they added.

The public are being urged to dispose of their waste at the next available bin located outside these designated security areas.

A spokesperson for Dublin City Council added: "This is in order to prevent a proliferation of litter on our city's streets and pavements around these security locations at this important time."

Dublin City Council thanked the public for its cooperation at this time during President Biden's visit, which will see him visit Irish President Michael D Higgins in Phoenix Park on Thursday.
