Dublin Castle Christmas Market announce returned tickets will be released next week

Those who couldn't get tickets for Dublin Castle's Christmas Market are set to have a second chance, with returned tickets to be released to the public next week.

The Office of Public Works is urging people who can't make it to this year's Christmas at The Castle event to return their free tickets to give others the chance to attend. According to the OPW, any tickets returned for Christmas at the Castle will be released to the public again at 1pm on Friday, December 2.

Christmas at the Castle is set to take place from Friday, December 9 until December 21 at Dublin Castle in the city centre. Earlier this month there was disappointment as people struggled to get tickets after they were snapped up within minutes of being released.

Now the OPW has confirmed that there is still a chance for those who missed out earlier to attend the "extremely popular" event. A spokeswoman told Dublin Live: "The Office of Public Works is delighted at the level of enthusiasm for Christmas at the Castle this year. This event has been extremely popular every year as one of the most festive events in the city centre.

"We would ask people who have booked tickets and cannot attend to cancel these tickets through their Eventbrite account. This will allow more people to enjoy the event."

She added: "All returned tickets will be released on Friday, 2 December at 13:00."

Dublin Castle's entrance will be lined with Christmas trees and bright light displays, and children will be able to enjoy a delightful fun-fair with complete with a vintage carousel. Meanwhile, this year the Dublin Gospel Choir, New Dublin Voices, Playlist, Crux Voice Ensemble, and others will perform at the open-air market.

Those who can't attend Christmas at the Castle can still visit the Dubhlinn Gardens and the current exhibitions in the Coach House Gallery and the Chester Beatty.
