Dublin Airport plane diverted to Iceland on flight to Boston due to 'technical issue'

A flight from Dublin to Boston was forced to make a diversion to Iceland due to a "technical issue" with the plane.

Aer Lingus flight EI133 left Dublin Airport yesterday afternoon before declaring the emergency and turning back over the Atlantic Ocean. Thankfully, all the passengers disembarked safely at Keflavik International Airport.

A recovery flight left Dublin to bring the passengers back to Dublin before they were flown to Boston today. They were also accommodated overnight.

An Aer Lingus spokesman said: "Aer Lingus flight EI133 from Dublin to Boston made a diversion to Keflavik International Airport in Iceland yesterday due to a technical issue with the aircraft. The aircraft landed in Keflavik and all passengers and crew disembarked safely.

"Aer Lingus operated a recovery flight to Keflavik International Airport yesterday evening to bring passengers back to Dublin where they were accommodated overnight, before being flown to Boston today on Aer Lingus’ daily direct services."
