DTPC spruces up tourist locales in district

Special Correspondent

The Ernakulam District Tourism Promotion Council (DTPC) has spruced up tourist locales maintained by it, with the onset of the summer vacation and inflow of tourists.

“We have tidied up locales that we maintain, in keeping with their immense potential to draw tourists, especially considering Vishu, Easter, and Ramzan seasons. Topmost among them is the pond maintained by the DTPC at the Ernakulam Children’s Park, where pedal boating and other rides are available. Hundreds visit the park each day,” said sources in the agency. Pedal boating is available at the park from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Locales maintained by the DTPC in the suburbs too are witnessing inflow of visitors. Among them are adventure tourism activities on the Munambam beach. Three package tours have been readied at Kumbalanghi. In Village Visit, one can check out the rural hamlet which shot to fame as the first village tourism destination in India, take a boat ride in the backwaters around it and savour the ethnic cuisine. There are also boating and farm visits and sunset cruise packages.

Ezhattumukham offers a scenic view of the hilly areas, while Bhoothathankettu dam and Manappattuchira in Malayattoor are among the other tourism spots the agency maintains.
