Drunken Ben Cook was ordered to pay £150 compensation to a police officer after kicking him in the back of his legs. Cook, 34, of Kingfisher Wharf, Lenton, pleaded guilty to assaulting PC Bassi in Friar Lane, Nottingham, on October 2, 2021.
Police had actually ordered Cook to leave the city after he told them to 'F*** ***' outside Burger King, Old Market Square. But they later encountered him slurring his words and he kicked out at PC Bassi before he was detained.
In police interview he said he could not remember what happened that night but he was sorry if he had done something wrong. District Judge Leo Pyle, sitting at Nottingham Magistrates' Court on Friday (September 30) told Cook: "It is totally unacceptable behaviour".
Cook was given a tagged curfew between set hours and dates to work around his employment as a blade technician installing wind turbines nationwide. He was put on a 12-month community order with 120 hours of unpaid work, and is required to pay a £114 victim surcharge and £85 prosecution costs.
