Drunk man kills wife in Andhra Pradesh

VISAKHAPATNAM: A 22-year-old person under the influence of liquor killed his wife by hitting her on the head with a stick when she opposed him consuming alcohol in heavy quantities.

With serious head injuries, the victim died on the spot. Interestingly, the accused Korra Sattibabu of Palamamidi village in Mulapeta panchayat of Koyyuru mandal in Alluri Sitaramaraju district married the victim Lakshmi of Dounuru a year ago after he loved her and convinced her parents.

According to Koyyuru Sub-Inspector Raja Rao, the accused married a teenage girl Lakshmi (17) a year ago and he was addicted to liquor following the death of his mother, an Asha Worker in the mandal, three months ago. His father has also died a few years ago. He slipped into depression following the death of his mother and addicted to alcohol.

The accused Sattibabu had gone to collect ration rice from the depot at Kondasanta village along with his wife Lakshmi. He consumed liquor in heavy quantities and his wife Lakshmi opposed his act of continuing to consume liquor. He manhandled her at the depot and indulged in heated arguments even in the evening at home.

Under the influence of liquor, Sattibabu hit his wife Lakshmi with a stick, resulting in the death of Lakshmi. Cops rushed to the village took the accused into custody and registered a case.
