Driving licence to be suspended if mobile not linked with DL before September 25? Check latest update about viral claims

A viral message about driving licence is going viral on social media: 'Your driving licence can be suspended if the mobile number linked to it is not updated before September 25, 2026.' Several reports and social media posts have presented September 25 or September 26 as a deadline for updating the mobile number on a driving licence. Some versions of the claim go a step further and say that licences could be cancelled or suspended if the update is not completed by then. However, the official information available from the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) and the Parivahan system does not establish September 25, 2026 as a nationwide deadline after which every driving licence without an updated mobile number will automatically be suspended.
