The Parkes Way and Coranderrk Street intersection, dubbed the worst roundabout in Canberra, was the scene of a serious crash on Wednesday morning during rush-hour.
ACT Emergency Services said they were alerted to the accident on Coranderrk Street about 9am, where two grey SUVs reportedly collided at the edge of the roundabout.
Ambulance paramedics and firefighters also attended.
Parkes Way and Coranderrk Street were closed southbound soon after the accident as rescue operations progressed.
Firefighters had to cut open the roofs of both vehicles to free the the drivers.
"Two persons were extracted from the vehicles and transported to hospital. They had minor injuries," an Emergency Services spokesperson said.
Traffic remained snail-paced in and around the Parkes Way and Coranderrk Street intersection until the damaged cars were cleared about 11.30am and traffic returned to normal.
ACT Policing officers were at the scene and an investigation into the crash is continuing.
