A trapped driver was cut free from her car after a collision with a lorry on the Mersey Gateway bridge.
Emergency services were called to the northbound carriageway at around 8.30am on Monday. Cheshire Police told the ECHO the crash involved an HGV and a turquoise Suzuki Vitara.
A force spokeswoman said the car was believed to have spun and hit a wall following the initial impact. She said lanes one and two were shut during the emergency response.

When the ECHO visited the area, long tailbacks could be seen snaking back along the approach viaduct from Runcorn towards Widnes.
An ambulance could be seen making its way through the backed-up traffic towards the crash scene, where three fire engines plus police cars and another ambulance had arrived and were tending to the situation, which was on the Widnes side.
The police spokeswoman said the woman driving the Suzuki suffered minor injuries and was taken to Warrington Hospital to be checked.
A man in the car also suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital for checks. The HGV driver was uninjured.
Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service (CFRS) said three fire engines from Runcorn, Widnes and Winsford were called to the bridge at 9.09am.
A CFRS spokesperson said crew used specialist equipment to remove the car's roof of the car to extract a casualty that was trapped.
Both casualties were passed to the care of paramedics.
Police said earlier on Monday that the person trapped in the car was the woman who was undergoing medical assessment before being freed.
In an updated statement issued on Monday afternoon, the police spokeswoman said: "Officers were called at around 8.30am today (Monday, February 13) to the Mersey Gateway bridge following reports of a collision involving a HGV and a turquoise Suzuki Vitara.
"The driver of the car, a woman, sustained minor injuries and she was taken to Warrington Hospital for further checks.
"The driver of the HGV was reported at the road side for due care and attention.
"The road was cleared at around 11.30am."
