A woman has appeared in court after she allegedly fled the scene of a two-car crash in a stolen car, leaving the other driver trapped in her vehicle in Adelaide's south.
Police allege the accused woman, 25-year-old Dani Lewis of Port Noarlunga South, was driving a red Volkswagen that collided with a blue Honda hatchback at Morphett Vale on Wednesday night.
After the crash, the driver of hatchback was trapped, but was eventually freed by emergency services personnel, who were called to the scene at the intersection of Main South Road and Randell Road at about 9:45pm.
The 51-year-old woman was taken to the Flinders Medical Centre with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, while her passenger — man, 28 — was also taken to hospital.
Police allege Ms Lewis, the driver of the Volkswagen, "left the scene and was picked up by a stolen Kia before patrols arrived".
After talking to witnesses and searching the area, police found the Kia in the car park of a Reynella winery.
Ms Lewis was arrested and charged with multiple offences, including driving while disqualified, and failing to stop and render assistance.
She did not apply for bail when she appeared in the Christies Beach Magistrates Court today.
Police seized the stolen Kia for forensic examination and investigations are continuing.
