A man has been charged with high range drink-driving near Newcastle after allegedly recording a blood-alcohol reading more than six times the legal limit after a crash.
Emergency crews were called to Nelson Bay Road at Fern Bay about 1.50pm on Tuesday following reports a Subaru Tribeca had hit a brick fence.
The driver - a 47-year-old man - was assessed by NSW Ambulance paramedics. He was not injured during the incident.
Police breath tested the man and he allegedly returned a positive result.

The man was arrested and taken to Raymond Terrace Police Station where he underwent a secondary breath analysis which recorded an alleged reading of 0.316.
He was issued a Court Attendance Notice for high range drink-driving and his licence was suspended.
The man will face Raymond Terrace Local Court on June 20.
