RuPaul’s Drag Race UK vs The World is set to premiere tonight as BBC Three returns to screens after its departure back in February 2016.
RuPaul’s Drag Race UK has been a huge smash hit, having been streamed over 50 million times on BBC iPlayer already based on its first three series after iconic catchphrases, dazzling outfits and a number of famous guest judges.
The launch of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK vs The World is set to be no different with a bunch of new twists and turns which will be a Drag Race first.
Fighting to take the title as the Global Drag Race Superstar will be Cheryl Hole, Baga Chipz, Blu Hydrangea, Lemon, Jimbo, Mo Heart, Jujubee, Pangina Heals and Janey Jacké.
Speaking in an interview with The Mirror, Janey Jacke from Holland stated that “Ru and Michelle are looking for the application of that feedback you were previously given, how did you take that feedback and how did you apply it to yourself, how did you grow and how did you become different.”
As RuPaul’s Drag Race UK vs The World is a first for the franchise Cheryl Hole explained the pressure she felt heading into the competition representing the UK.
“I don’t think I felt pressure, I think it was a familiarity that gave me a lot more confidence because we didn’t have to travel and we didn’t have to go into unfamiliar territory it’s just like going into your nan's house”
Within an array of star-studded guest judges with the likes of Jade Thirlwall, Katie Price and Clara Amfo, Baga Chipz revealed that she was starstruck during the first runway which will air this evening as she was lucky enough to receive a special comment from Melanie C from the Spice Girls.
“Mel C literally said to me on the runway you’re my favourite, much betta. I just broke down”
Having previously been a judge for the first two series of Drag Race Thailand, Pangina Heals explained her mindset going into the competition.
She said: “I gotta win. a lot of people were just saying like if you do badly, you were the host how dare do you have the right to judge anyone, there was that added pressure.”
RuPaul’s Drag Race is known for its campy fashion moments, hilarious comedy challenges and the explosive drama.
Teasing a huge blow up on the show Baga Chipz revealed: “I kick off on this one, I really kick off and I actually throw something.
"Obviously we all want to win and stuff but that is my main goal when I go on Drag Race, let’s make brilliant bloody television. Ru calls a girl out too and everybody is shocked.”
RuPaul’s Drag Race UK Versus The World starts at 9pm tonight on BBC Three and BBC iPlayer. New episodes every Tuesday.
