Drag Race UK's Tayce teases music career plans after revealing dad's Wham! stint

Tayce has teased her plans to dip her toe into the music industry after being inspired by their dad.

Drag Race UK star Tayce, 28, says her dad "instilled" good music taste in her from a young age following his time in the iconic 80s band Wham!

The drag queen's father Roger Radix appeared on Wham!'s first album and performed with George Michael and the band in their tracks Bad Boys and Wham Rap!

Tayce's dad also performed with the group on Top of the Pops and played bass guitar as the group performed Young Guns (Go For It!).

After rising to fame on the second season of Drag Race UK, Tayce has enjoyed continued success on the drag scene. But, also had a taste of what the music industry is like as she collaborated with Lawrence Chaney, Bimini Bon-Boulash and Ahora and became the United Kingdolls to perform UK Hun?

Now, in an exclusive interview with the Mirror just as Tayce is about to embark on an exciting solo tour across the UK, the queen teased she could be about to release some new music, too.

Tayce told the Mirror: "If you're coming know there's going to be intense choreography, songs that you may not have heard before – but I know you're gonna love afterwards."

When quizzed if fans can expect new music, Tayce added: "Maybe baby, you'll have to come and see find out.

"But, I will say, I am waiting and begging and gagging for my pop star era.

"I think it's something I know I will absolutely kill – I love a good music video vibe. I love to dance, I love to perform and I love a high energy vibe and that's exactly what I'm going to be getting on this tour.

"And yeah, just basically just wait and see, wait and see. But, I got some tricks up my sleeve and the sleeves are very large and I'm gonna talk about my weave."

Tayce, who partnered with Booking.com to perform at Manchester Pride, will be travelling to London, Bristol, Dundee and many more hotspots across the UK to perform.

And during the chat, Tayce also highlighted how important it is for the LGBTQ+ community to feel safe on their own travels.

She explained: "Since Drag Race I've been touring working around the world more than I ever have in my life and it's been amazing.

"But here, there, everywhere – wherever it may be – there is always some kind of place where you feel this animosity, disdain or, to put it bluntly, homophobia going into hotels."

Speaking of her collaboration with Booking.com, she continued: "We're trying to get the seal of approval where it's safe for you to go wherever you may be – whatever colour or creed you are, and, yeah, just have a good time!"
