Dr Hilary Jones has shared a list of Monkeypox symptoms to look out for after warning on Good Morning Britain of an "unprecedented" outbreak in virus. The doctor spoke to GMB host Ranvir Singh about the rise in cases across the world on Monday's ITV news programme.
The UK has currently recorded 20 cases of the virus and during the health segment at the start of GMB on Monday morning, Dr Hilary warned that while the number of cases doesn't "sound a lot", the public need to be "vigilant". He explained how there appears to be an "unprecedented outbreak in 11 countries around the world", The Mirror reports.
"It suggests that it has become a bit more transmissible," the 68-year-old GP said: "We know it is not a serious infection, usually. Mortality is about one per cent with the less virulent west African variant, if you want to call it a variant. We need to be vigilant, people need to know the symptoms".
