Double-decker Stagecoach bus crashes into row of gardens in Ayrshire town

A Stagecoach bus has crashed into a row of gardens in a small town in North Ayrshire.

The incident took place at around 10am on Wednesday, January 4 when the X36 service, bound for Glasgow, collided with a property in the Drakemyre area of Dalry. It is understood a garden wall was damaged in the incident but nobody was injured.

It is not known how many, if any, passengers were travelling on the bus at the time. Police have confirmed a 51-year-old man has been reported to the procurator fiscal in connection with road traffic offences.

Footage taken at the scene from a passer-by, which was shared on social media, shows the double decker with its hazard lights on next to the garden wall.

Further up the road, debris can be seen on the pavement, and a fence seems to have been flattened by the impact. Two women stand worriedly outside one of the addresses, while a blue-lit police van and a man in a high-vis jacket are stationed nearby.

The witness told the Record: "The bus was empty when I passed and it didn't look like there had been ambulances or paramedics in attendance."

Traffic is believed to be flowing freely in the area, with recovery work already underway to remove the damaged bus from the site.

A spokesperson for Stagecoach West Scotland said: "We can confirm that one of our buses on the X36 route in Dalry was involved in a road traffic accident on the B780 this morning. There were no reported injuries, and the vehicle has been removed. Safety is our primary concern, and we are investigating the cause of the incident."

A Police Scotland spokesperson added: "Around 9.45am on Wednesday, 4 January, police attended a one vehicle road crash involving a bus on Braehead, Dalry. A 51-year-old man is subject of a report to the Procurator Fiscal for road traffic offences."
