Donald Trump says Nicola Sturgeon and SNP controversy is 'too bad' during visit to Turnberry

Former United States president Donald Trump has spoken of the recent controversy surrounding Nicola Sturgeon, saying it is "too bad to hear what’s happened to her".

Mr Trump is visiting his golf resorts in Scotland and Ireland and played a round at his Trump Turnberry resort in Ayrshire today (Wednesday, May 3).

He arrived in Scotland on his private jet on Monday to cut a ribbon at a ceremony to break ground for a second course at his Menie Estate golf resort near Aberdeen. It will be named the MacLeod course - dedicated to his late mother, Mary Anne MacLeod, who was born on Lewis in the Western Isles before emigrating to the US.
