Donald Trump in sudden Nobel Peace Prize U-turn, insists he never cared about getting one after all, mountain of evidence says otherwise

Even by the standards of Donald Trump‘s catastrophically bad relationship with the truth, his new insistence that, actually, he never really cared about having a Nobel Peace Prize takes the cake.

After a series of truly humiliating events, the height of which was the meaningless charade of him accepting Maria Machado’s medal, he’s now slamming on the brakes with a firm denial that he was ever interested in it. Speaking to reporters, he explained:

“I don’t care about the Nobel Prize. First of all, a very fine woman felt that I deserved it and really wanted me to have the Nobel Prize, and I appreciate that. If anybody thinks that Norway doesn’t, uhh, doesn’t control the Nobel Prize, they are just kidding. They have a board, but it’s controlled by Norway and I don’t care what Norway says… But uh, I really don’t care about that. What I care about is saving lives. And I think I’ve saved tens of millions of lives.

Gee, Donald, for someone who “doesn’t care about the Nobel Prize”, you sure do have extremely strong opinions about it, the way it’s awarded, and seem to have a deep-seated grudge against the Norwegian prime minister, who isn’t on the Nobel board and doesn’t award Nobel prizes.

International humiliation

It’s also peculiar that someone who “doesn’t care” penned a personal letter to Norway that underlines that you, in fact, care so deeply about getting a Nobel Peace Prize that you’re willing to plunge the world into war:

It’s painfully ironic that a man being denied a peace prize is apparently getting vengeance by starting a war, betraying his allies, and conquering a peaceful country. That irony is definitely lost on Trump himself, who appears to now be believing his own lies about him being a modern-day Prince of Peace.

Honestly, the Nobel Committee should just follow FIFA’s example and make up some ridiculous award specifically for Trump. Congratulations Mr President, you’re the first recipient of the uh.. the inaugural Alfred Nobel Award for uhmm… Outstanding Achievement in the… Field of Excellence!
