Are any of us shocked? Donald Trump has never cared about the working class, and it is amazing the wool he’s managed to pull over the eyes of those voters. Consistently throughout this term alone he has denied inflation and rising grocery prices, despite campaigning on lowering those costs.
Now, Trump doubles down even more by going back against his words yet again.
After the November election, he said that candidates like Zohran Mamdani won by focusing on affordability. He then also said that Republicans need to do the same. On December 2, Republican lawmakers met for a conference meeting, where they were told by Representative Lisa McClain to double down on affordability going into the 2026 midterm elections, according to PunchBowl.
Mere hours later, Trump said that affordability is a con job. Calling it a “fake” narrative created by the Democrats, he said that “it doesn’t mean anything.”
In a clip posted on Instagram by user hereswhykevin, the comment section is, understandably, a little frustrated.
“Inflation and our bank accounts would disagree,” said one, while another said “The billionaire who has enriched his whole family in office cannot comprehend that word.” And it’s true–Trump is so out of touch with the idea of affordability that it’s difficult to even believe he has a grasp on what it means. Everything he’s done in office has been for the gain of himself or his loyal MAGA followers.
Donald Trump, are you perhaps projecting somewhat?
