The Miami Dolphins have had rumors swirling around their quarterback position for the last two seasons, and one of the biggest potential targets to replace Tua Tagovailoa has been Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson.
Now, after the dust has settled and the Dolphins appear to be sticking with their quarterback, general manager Chris Grier has confirmed that Miami is not looking to trade for Watson.
“The door is shut on Deshaun,” Chris said at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis, Indiana on Wednesday.
Since Brian Flores’ firing, there has been a lot to come out regarding the team’s support for Tagovailoa. There were reports that whatever coach they hired had to believe in him as the quarterback of the future, and since Mike McDaniel was hired, he’s done nothing but praise the former first-round pick.
However, it would be interesting to know if Grier still stands strong on that statement if Watson’s legal issues were completely settled.
