Dog dies after being stolen by thugs and set on fire leaving owner 'heartbroken'

A heartbroken dog owner has described the pain of losing her dog who was "doused in petrol and set alight".

Angela Clennell's eight-year-old cocker spaniel Lucky died on Friday after suffering extensive burns in the family's garden in County Durham.

The 56-year-old was left heartbroken after Lucky was taken from their home in Ripley Close, Outson, along with a a second dog, Sandy, at about 10pm on Wednesday, Chronicle Live reports.
