Doctor Doom Is Officially Coming to 'Marvel Cosmic Invasion' as Its Next DLC—What to Expect

Dotemu and Tribute Games have officially confirmed their next major expansion for "Marvel Cosmic Invasion," and this time the game's most feared villain takes center stage.

The announcement gives fans a first look at what's coming just months before Doctor Doom's biggest moment arrives on the big screen.

'Marvel Cosmic Invasion: The Siege of Castle Doom' DLC

Dotemu released the very first look at "Marvel Cosmic Invasion: The Siege of Castle Doom" through a teaser image published earlier today. The premium DLC will center around Doctor Doom in an all-new game mode, arriving alongside two new playable characters whose identities haven't been revealed yet.

Details remain limited for now, with Dotemu confirming only that more information will follow ahead of the DLC's Fall 2026 launch across PC via Steam, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.

This marks the second piece of paid DLC for "Marvel Cosmic Invasion," following an earlier character pack that added The Thing and Cyclops to the roster.

Doctor Doom Is Coming to Retro Beat 'Em Up Game

"Marvel Cosmic Invasion" launched in December 2025 from Tribute Games, the studio behind "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge" and "Scott Pilgrim EX." The game is a tag-team co-op beat 'em up celebrating classic "Marvel" storylines through retro-inspired arcade-style visuals and combat, and it earned a D.I.C.E. Awards nomination following its release.

Given Doctor Doom's command of Latveria, his army of Doombots, and a castle packed with magical and technological artifacts, the villain offers plenty of material for a dedicated game mode built specifically around him.

While the identities of the two new playable characters remain unconfirmed, some outlets have speculated the additions could pull from the Fantastic Four, given that characters like Reed Richards, Human Torch, and Invisible Woman have yet to join the existing roster.

'Avengers: Doomsday' Is Following Closely

The timing of this DLC lines up directly with "Avengers: Doomsday," which releases in theaters on December 18. The film marks Robert Downey Jr.'s return to the MCU, this time playing Doctor Doom rather than Tony Stark, alongside Chris Evans returning as Steve Rogers after his exit following "Avengers: Endgame."

That said, it remains unknown how Marvel's Anthony and Joe Russo will bridge RDJ's Tony Stark to his Victor Von Doom character, or will he be an entirely different person, bearing only the actor's resemblance.

"Avengers: Doomsday" brings together heroes from three separate universes into a single collision event. This will unite the Fantastic Four from Earth-828, the Avengers from the MCU's own Earth-616, and the original X-Men characters from Fox's separate timeline, including Patrick Stewart's Professor X and Ian McKellen's Magneto.

The film serves as a direct lead-in to "Avengers: Secret Wars," releasing the following December, and some fan theories suggest the story could set up "Battleworld" as a bridge between the two films, given Doctor Doom's comic book history with that concept.

With "Marvel Cosmic Invasion's" own Doom-focused DLC arriving just ahead of the movie's release, Dotemu appears to be riding the same wave of renewed interest in the character heading into what's shaping up to be one of the year's biggest Marvel releases.
