Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president D.K. Shivakumar appealed to all seers not to keep quiet amidst communal conflict and disturbances of peace like Mahabharata’s veterans Bheeshma and Dronacharya who chose to close their eyes when Draupadi was being humiliated.
Speaking at a programme to mark the birthday of seer Shivamurthy Muruga Sharana, Mr. Shivakumar, who expressed concern over the present situation in the State marked by communal tension, said the seers of all mutts should raise their voice against such things to restore peace, justice, dharma, and unity.
Describing mutts as “foundations of equality”, he appealed to the seers to raise their voice in favour of affected persons irrespective of their caste and faith.
Mr. Shivakumar hailed Muruga Sharana Swami for showing the courage to take part in the protest march organised recently by the Opposition Congress to seek early implementation of Mekedatu drinking water project.
