When it comes to announcements about the latest edition of the popular Madden video game franchise, nothing is more controversial than player ratings. It is a surefire way to get fans debating immediately when they see where their favorite players are ranked… or more importantly, where they perhaps should be ranked.
Take for example the Seattle Seahawks’ star wide receiver duo. Despite being widely recognized as one of the best pairs in the league, neither DK Metcalf or Tyler Lockett cracked into the Top 10 for highest rated wide receiver in the upcoming game.
Instead, Lockett and Metcalf came in at No. 15 and No. 17, respectively, with respectable ratings of 89 and 88.

Annoyingly, a pair of NFC West division rivals make the list ahead of Metcalf and Lockett. San Francisco’s Deebo Samuel is tied with Lockett, but both trail Super Bowl MVP Cooper Kupp – who is back in the Top 10 after an injury riddled season.
Of course, Madden constantly adjust player ratings as the season goes along. Should the Seahawks offense get off to an explosive start, there’s no doubt these high-80’s ratings will increase.
